Physical demand for the technology has also spiked, especially during the pandemic when people were spending more time indoors.

Search volumes for VR headsets have increased by 5800 per cent in the past year, suggesting the interactive experience of the tech is growing in demand.

The Oculus Quest 2, owned by Facebook, is currently the most sought-after VR headset with over 22,000 monthly searches and a further 12,100 for ‘VR Quest 2’.

This suggests that Oculus is the most in-demand VR console this Christmas.

These sectors have the most disruption with immersive technology such as VR headsets

One reason for this could be that the Oculus Quest headsets don’t need an external console to run its games, making it a good entry-level headset at an affordable price compared to the competition.

Following the Oculus device is the PlayStation VR headset – released in 2016 this headset works with PS4s and PS5s, making it the perfect gift for someone who already owns one of those consoles.

After the PlayStation VR is the Valve Index (27,100 searches), the HP Reverb G2 (14,800 searches), and the HTC Vive Cosmos (1,900 searches).
